Burdened

There is one thing I long to do:
To cry and cry and cry!
Until it feels alright,
Until I breathe a sigh of relief!

I want to cry out to God;
To You, O Lord, I call!
Afraid of my own self,
How evil am I, my Lord!

Unworthy of all,
Yet demanding more!
I am tired; I feel so weak—
Both my head and body ache.

There is no rest for me,
None until I entrust my burdens to You!

Follow Jesus!

From nothing to something,
From a dark to a bright surrounding.
O heaven's art, what glorious sight!
The empty space has seen light.

It was then filled with creatures,
Including man to care for them and the nature.
But what has he done?
He sinned and from the Creator ran.

Chaos, pain, and sickness came;
The perfect land was cursed to our shame.
Death was pronounced, yet abounds God's goodness.
A Redeemer was promised to save us sinners.

From heaven, He came down to earth
To receive sin's penalty and face death.
And though sinless, He did it all
That our sins might be forgiven, both great and small.

Jesus is the light of the universe;
Anyone who follows Him shall not have to walk in darkness.
Just as one sun gives light to everything,
So with one Son, there's no need for anything.

Oh, Pierce my Heart!

If in Christ I derive my peace,
My fears and anxieties will surely cease.
Through all my trials and pains,
My God is there and will always remain.

As I wait to finally see His face,
His words will guide me—oh, what grace!
To give comfort when I fall apart,
To teach and rebuke—oh, pierce my heart!

A Flower's Farewell

There is a flower so beautiful
Which is dearly loved by all.
A flower that's blossoming
Like a youth who's so charming.

Yet despite its beauty
It can make people gloomy
The joy it used to bring
Can one day leave a sad surrounding.

Like grass, the flower withers
Though still preserved in vase
For two days, three days or even weeks
Making tears crawl down on cheeks.

Soon, it will really have to go
And join the soil and the grass below.
Yet I hope someday it grows again;
From withering it shall refrain.

A Familiar Pain: Death of a Love One

Life is so uncertain.
Should I say it again?
Do I need to shout it,
So I need not reiterate?

You may sleep so happily at night,
Yet upon facing the mornin' light,
What you'll see are tears—
Tears in the face of people who care.

As I sit here on the side,
All of the elders are preoccupied.
Having accomplished nothing,
Their focus is on their mourning.

A pain so familiar,
You didn't have to compare.
Just let the people mourn as it fits the season.
Well, I guess you knew the very reason.

One needs not to be smart
To know where to start.
And in a little while all must move,
And embrace the situation which God has approved.

In His sovereignty, God allowed this to happen,
His wisdom is sure far above the highest mountain.
In all circumstances we can trust Him,
Through the night and the day that has become so dim.

Until When, Lord?

Sitting by my window,
Looking up to the sky,
A picture of events
Flashes before my vision.

What a chaotic world,
Full of pain and sorrow.
People competing with one another,
Wanting to outdo each other.

Busy people crossing the streets,
Cars stuck in heavy traffic.
People minding their own business;
Their aims are centered on themselves.

A pandemic that has shaken our lives,
Job losses and closing businesses,
Tired nurses and doctors,
A dying economy, and yes, also people.

And then I asked, "Where is beauty?
How will I be able to extend Your mercy?"
My heart grieves as I long for Your coming.
"Until when, Lord? Until when will I wait..."

Such an awful world that we live in,
Yet I am certain of the cause—
None other than our very sin.
Lord, may You protect Your redeemed.

Something To Unmask

We ought to always cry
For a heart that seeks for Christ
As if in our lives He was missing
For there is no getting enough of Him.

Because of His infinite greatness,
Our minds can never fully grasp
The glory that's His and His works'.
There is always something to unmask.

Oh, what satisfaction it will give us!
If we feed on His goodness every day,
To know Him and enjoy Him
Will surely lead to an eternal, joyful survey.

At times we are idle;
Remember this truth and cultivate it in your life:
That our assurance neither rests on emotion
Nor in ourselves, but in Christ alone.

You who are far from Christ,
Know that He alone lived sinlessly.
Yet suffered and died in our place,
You'll be saved if you trust His work's sufficiency.

Long Queue: A Whisper of Reflection

As usual, the lines were long, and there I was, standing in queue. I went next to the grocery store for shopping. Oops, wait a minute! Can you hear it? My mind’s been running with random thoughts. Yay! Finally, I’m home—a whisper of reflection:

As I waited in the long line,
I tried to discern
What blessing there is
In this tiring day as it appears.

"Pay the bills and buy these.
Don't forget the tissue, please!"
Such common yet many orders
That could make my patience shorter.

"So where is the blessing?"
I asked myself while standing.
"Aha! I have found it!
I've finally caught a glimpse of it."

The blessing is there;
It's the blessing to serve others.
By following their orders,
I've been showing them graces.

Isn't it wonderful
That I am able to fulfill
Such a godly obligation
With which Christians are commissioned.

Silent Farewell

One by one, the five stars fell, A breath, a beat—then all was still. No warning came, no time to stay, Just silence where they once lay. A ...
